High customer satisfaction at the meat supply center Rhine/Main
The Fleischversorgungszentrum Rhein-Main GmbH (meat supply center) was the former slaughterhouse on Deutschherrenufer. In 1996, the new meat supply center was opened at Carl-Benz-Str. 16, in 60386 Frankfurt am Main.
The FVZ is a popular shopping location with a total area of around 25,000m². The FVZ rents out food production stands in various sizes and upstream sales areas in its halls, supplying catering businesses, butchers, kebab shops, other meat producers, and private households in Frankfurt and the surrounding area.

In 2020, the FVZ had problems with the PLC7 programming and control of the refrigeration plant, the heart of the meat supply centre. The current service provider was not readily-available for the FVZ and changes to the plant were rarely documented.
This resulted in a situation for plant manager Mr. Ingo Freund that saw him constantly bombarded with false alarms from his plant. Implementing food law regulations and maintaining operating facilities were also at risk. Mr. Freund turned to Inter Data Systems GmbH from Maintal, which immediately provided the FVZ with a detailed project plan for a speedy error analysis and the expansion of plant functions.
The project was started by reviewing, correcting and updating the PLC and HMI software versions and setting up an archive using a suitable versioning tool.
In the second step, a to-do list was created together with FVZ's in-house technical team, in which errors were identified and suggestions for improvements were recorded. Any errors were solved, and suggestions were implemented and documented.
"Troubleshooting the technical issues of the refrigeration system presented us with the challenge of updating a system that has accumulated various system errors and barriers over the years, with the aim to prevent system failures in the future," said Dogukan Özyigit, Sales Manager at Inter Data Systems.
The final step was to update all the circuit diagrams and train the in-house technicians so that minor changes and troubleshooting could occur independently.
