Initial situation
Since 2018, IDS has been supporting an international manufacturer of technical ceramic products that operates as a supplier to the automotive industry.
The challenge in this project was the complete network planning, installation, commissioning and documentation of the LAN and WLAN structure at several German production sites. The company emphasized a reliable, high-performance network infrastructure to ensure smooth production processes.
After the initial implementation, the focus was on continuously monitoring functionality and efficient network operation. Since 2023, IDS has taken over the operation of the network and Wi-Fi in all of the customer's European production and warehouse sites and all of its European sales offices.
Our approach
IDS implemented a comprehensive network solution to meet the customer's specific requirements. IDS offers rapid support for fault response or customization requests with a Service Level Agreement (SLA) of 24 hours a day, seven days a week and a response time of four hours.
The IDS hotline is a direct communication channel for efficient and clear coordination. Thanks to this clear structure, IDS can respond quickly to any challenges and ensure that the network continues running smoothly.
Technology used
The network infrastructure used the latest technologies to ensure a robust and reliable solution. Cisco Catalyst 2960X and 4500X series switches were used to ensure efficient data transfer and strong network performance.
We also implemented Cisco technologies to manage the wireless network, including the Cisco 5500 Wireless Controller and Cisco 2800 Series Access Points. Implementing Nexus N5K-C5624Q switches ensured optimal data processing and connectivity at the customer's production sites.
Ongoing activities for the customer
As part of the fault clearance service, IDS performs a wide range of tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the network infrastructure. This includes an efficient fault acceptance service and fast and accurate troubleshooting when problems occur.
We also minimize downtime in the event of hardware problems by maintaining an extensive stock of spare parts. The supplier deals with complaints directly to ensure the fastest possible resolution. The IDS field service is available on-site to make necessary adjustments or troubleshoot. IDS also emphasizes transparent reporting to inform customers of all actions taken.
IDS installs, commissions, tests and configures system components while the infrastructure runs. We ensure a smooth handover and takeover of the infrastructure for new implementations or adaptations. Careful documentation, including device lists, IP address management (IPAM) and topology, ensures that all relevant information is easily accessible.
IDS uses proactive monitoring to keep track of all functions. In the event of a fault, an alarm is triggered immediately. Monthly reports also provide a clear overview of the availability of all components.
